Alumni Corner: Harris leads SEMO in scoring to open season

Chris Harris -- SEMO
Harris had a game-high 18 points, leading SEMO to a season-opening 71-66 win over Kansas City Saturday night.
Harris played 35 minutes, going 5-for-9 from the field and 3-of-6 from 3-point range, while finishing 5-for-11 from the free throw line. The senior guard handed out four assist to go along with four turnovers and three rebounds.
The win was also the first for former SIU standout and current SEMO head coach Brad Korn. SEMO and SIU are expected to meet Wednesday night in Cape Girardeau.

Jonah Jackson -- Drake
Jackson scored nine points in 15 minutes in Drakes 80-70 win over Kansas State last Wednesday and scored six points in the Bulldogs' (2-0) 69-53 win over South Dakota. Jackson pulled down two rebounds in 11 minutes, while knocking down two 3-pointers.
On the season, Jackson is averaging 7.5 points, while shooting 50% from the field. Drake plays Omaha on Wednesday.

David Sloan -- East Tennessee State
At the Gulf Coast Showcase, Sloan and ETSU went 1-2, knocking off Middle Tennessee State 57-43 and falling to Austin Peay (67-66) and Abilene Christian (70-47).
Sloan led the Buccaneers in scoring in the win over MTSU with 11 points on 4-of-8 shooting from the field and 2-for-2 from the foul line. The senior guard is averaging nine points and three assists, while shooting 41% from the field. ETSU plays UNC Asheville on December 8th.

Vonnie Patterson -- East Tennessee State
Like Sloan, Patterson and ETSu was part of the Gulf Coast Showcase, going 1-2. Patterson, a senior forward, is averaging 19 minutes for the Buccaneers and three points per game. He's shooting 56% from the field, while putting down 4.3 rebounds.

Eric Boone -- Georgia Southern
Boone, through two games, is averaging 13.5 points for Georgia Southern, who are now 2-0 on the season.
Boone, a junior guard, had a season-high 16 points on 6-of-8 shooting from the field in the season-opening win over Florida National. On Saturday, Boone went 4-for-7 from the field, scoring 11 points in a win over Coastal Georgia.
Georgia Southern will play at Davidson Friday.

Quamain Nelson- South Carolina State
Nelson is averaging one point and 1.5 rebound for SCSU, who are 0-2 on the season, after losses to Bowling Green State and Appalachian State.
In Saturday's loss to BGSU, Nelson had two points, two rebounds and one steal in a 101-78 loss.

Trace Young and Jordan Cousin (Alabama State) will open the season against Samford on December 9th. Jalen Johnson (University of Illinois Chicago) has yet to play for the Flames through two gams.
