The fall walk will go on for a pair of Marion girl golfers following Wednesday's IHSA Class 2A Regional, hosted by the Wildcats at Kokopelli Golf Course.
Marion junior Sarah Capel captured overall medalist honors, firing a 74 and will join teammate Baylee Kelley, who finished with a 80 at Tuesday's Sectional at the University of Illinois Golf Course, hosted by Champaign Centennial.
Marion -- as a team -- missed out on qualifying by four strokes, falling to O'Fallon, who shot a 316 to win the title and Edwardsville, who shot a 344.
The Wildcats finished with a 347 for third place, while Collinsville was fourth with a 353. Belleville East rounded out the top five with a 367, while Triad finished with a 373. Also and Mascoutah tied for seventh with a 375, while Belleville West (377), Granite City (441) and Mt. Vernon (454) rounded out the team scoring.
After Capel's 74 and Kelley's 80, the Wildcats got an 89 from senior Ava Lewis. Avery Cornett, a junior, fired a 104 and Emma Pyatt finished with a 115.
