The Benton girls' golf team captured a new nine-hole team record Friday, picking up a 181-206 win over West Frankfort at Benton Country Club.
The Rangerettes were led vey a 41 from Alyssa Dawson, who took medalist honors, while Benton got career low rounds from Olivia Drew (45), Addie Dungy (45) and Samantha VanHorn (50).
Karlie Kulich shot a 54 for Benton and Ryleigh Bates finished with a 62. Ava Groves had a carer low 51 for Benton in a junior varsity match.
"As a coach, I could not be more proud of the effort that these young ladies have put in. They have spent the time in practice, working on the simulator and on their own time. They are to be commended on their attitudes and on course demeanor. I never have to worry that they will represent BCJS to the best of their ability."
