At the annual Mr. A cross country meet at the Benton City Park, the host Rangers took home first place in both the boys and girls' races.
The Benton boys scored 21 points, beating Du Quoin (38), West Frankfort (72) and Sparta (91) Tuesday afternoon.
Benton had four of the top five finishes as Gavin Genisio won the race for the Rangers, crossing the line at 15:31, while Reece Johnson was third overall, finishing in a time of 16:27. Mason Tiefeel took fourth with a time of 16:35 and Chase Owens was fifth for Benton with a time of 17:10. Parker Sieviking had a top 10 finish for the Rangers, placing eighth overall with a time of 18:17.
Du Quoin's Landon Swinney was second overall, finishing at 15:59, while Jon Gomez and Nathan Smith both had top 10 finishes as Gomez took sixth overall with a time of 17:13 and Nathan Smith was seventh at 17:25.
Tavion Garrison and David Gomes were 11th and 12th, respectively, as Garrison finished at 19:40 and Gomes at 20:00. Hunter Douglas (16th, 10:32), Reece Tilley (18th, 21:06), Conor Gross (20th, 21:34), and Waylon Beln (30th, 29:19) rounded out the scoring for the Indians.
On the girls' side, Benton collected 26 points, edging out Du Quoin (29) and West Frankfort (75).
Benton placed five runners in the top 10 as Addi Miler was the top finisher for the Rangers, coming in second at 20:14, while Hailey Wallace was fourth at 20:43, Mia Wills was fifth at 20:56, Peyton Teiffel was sixth at 20:58 and Blakely Johnson was ninth with a time of 22:10. Brooklyn Frailey was 24th for the Rangers, finishing at 29:15.
Du Quoin's Olivia Phillips captured first place, crossing the line at 19:40, while Lauren Heape had a third place finish for the Indians with a time of 20:23, while the duo of Jacqueline Crain and Alexis George were seventh and eighth, respectively. Crain had a time of 21:29, while George came in at 21:54.
Maddie Decker was 11th for Du Quoin with a time of 22:38, while Kallie Oestricher (13th, 23:18), Lainey Miller (14th, 23:28) and Tristan Cook (26th, 30:28) rounded out the scoring for the Indians.
