John A. Logan College picked up a Division 1 transfer from Alabama A&M and Indianapolis native Cameron Alford earlier this week.
Alford -- as a freshman -- led the Bulldogs in scoring, averaging 12.2 points per game and 5.5 rebounds per game.
The 6-foot, 200-pound Brownsburg, Ind., native scored a season high 32 points against Arkansas Pine Bluff in January and 26 points against UNA in December.
JALC head coach Kyle Smithpeters has been impressed with Alford and is looking forward to what the transfer brings to the table.
"He is a great defender, but he also has a well rounded offensive game," Smithpeters said. "He can score in a lot of ways. He makes people better when he is on the floor. He is highly competitive and had some really good games for Alabama A&M this season. I'm are very excited to get to coach Cam."
On April 27, Alford announced his decision to enter the transfer portal.
At Brownsburg High School, Alford was ranked as the 17th overall prospect in the Hoosier State by the Indianapolis Star and he averaged 15.1 points, 3.8 assists, 3.8 rebounds and 2.2 steals per game, leading Brownsburg to a 17-7 record in his senior season. He totaled 1,435 points for his career.
Also, this past week, Carterville's Austin Garbe announced his intentions to walk on to John A. Logan via twitter.
Alford and Garbe join incoming freshman Dre Boyd (Bowling Green, Ky.) and local products Dawson Yates (Pinckneyville) and Jackson Connor (Marion).
Returning to the Vols are Sydney Curry, Jamarion Sharp, Justin Johnson, Teon Nesbitt, Isaiah Ervin and Missouri transfer Mario McKinney.
