Vols win conference opener with road win at SWIC

John A. Logan led all the way to open the Great Rivers Athletic Conference with a 76-54 win over Southwestern Illinois. The Volunteers are 4-4 overall and 1-0 in the conference
Logan led 38-25 at the half and held off a SWIC rally to take control early in the second half.  The  Blue Storm pulled within 9 points but Logan rallied to go up by as many as 25 points.  Sydney Curry led Logan with a double-double, scoring 20 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.
Eric Boone had eight points, seven rebounds and seven assists, while Mark Lancaster finished with nine points and nine rebounds.
The Volunteers played the game without All-American Jay Scrubb who suffered a shoulder injury earlier in the day.
Logan will host Vincennes on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
