At the West Frankfort Cross Country Regionals on a wet and soggy Saturday, the Carrier Mills-Stonefort boys' team advanced to Sectionals and Aidan Rollins finished with a top-15 performance for the Wildcats.
Benton, who won the event with 21 points, was followed by Hamilton County (51), Fairfield (129), NCOE (142), Gallatin County (146) and Carrier Mills-Stonefort, who scored 152 points.
The remainder of the field was rounded out by Crab Orchard (154), West Frankfort (176), Harrisburg (187), Galatia (248) and Thompsonville (269).
Rollins was 12th overall and the Wildcats' best finisher after he crossed the line at 17:35.
Robbie Hadley, who finished 21st, had a time of 18:14, while Jacob Reeves was 47th with a time of 19:55 and Brandon Hambleton was 48th with a time of 20:05.
Other places and times for CSMF included: Malaki Metcalf (49, 20:07), Kyle Bristow (67, 21:30) and D.C. Stout (68, 21:46).
On the girls' side, Abby Whiting was 24th overall with a time of 23:33 and Emma Odum finished 46th with a time of 26:57.
"I was happy to see the boys advance to sectionals," CMSF head coach Mike Eisenhauer said. "I was proud of all the kids' effort because they ran in a driving rainstorm and there were several places on the course where the water was standing several inches deep.  Even though Abby did not make it to sectionals, I thought she ran really well."
