Logan's Sloan selected to play in All-Star Game

CARTERVILLE -- John A. Logan College sophomore point guard David Sloan has been selected to play in an All-Star basketball game on May 18 at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas.

Sloan, an honorable mention All-American, led the nation is assists as both a freshman and sophomore. This past season, he averaged 10.2 assists to go along with 16.1 points and 4.5 rebounds per game, while leading Logan to a record of 27-5 and a ranking of fifth nationally.

In Las Vegas, Sloan will be a member of the Division I team that will be challenged by a team of Division II and Division III players. The DI coach will be Todd Franklin, who led Vincennes to the national championship.

Sloan is one of three District 16 players, along with Lonny Francis of Vincennes and Javonte Perkins of SWIC, invited to participate.

Currently finishing his degree work at Logan while making college visits, Sloan said he is honored to be selected for the All-Star team. "It will be a great experience to be able to play with the top junior college players in the nation. I'm really excited," he said.

Sloan will make recruiting trips to Kansas State, West Virginia, Iowa State, Georgetown and Wichita State before signing a letter of intent.
