MJHS boys cruise past Herrin

MARION -- The Marion Junior High School boys basketball team held Herrin scoreless in the first quarter and cruised to a 42-17 win in the home opener Tuesday night.
Marion improved to 2-0 overall and 1-0 in the Big Seven Conference with the victory.
Evan Noelle scored all six of his points in the first quarter, when the Wildcats outscored Herrin, 12-0.
The second quarter was nearly even, although all six of Herrin's points came on free throws and Marion went into halftime holding a 20-6 lead.
Bryson Burgess scored eight of his game-high 14 points in the third quarter to help MJHS go on a 13-4 run and push the lead to 33-10.
Nehemiah Goodman added nine points and five other players scored for the Wildcats in the win.
Marion won the seventh-grade game, 46-36.
MJHS plays at home again Tuesday against Carbondale.
