MARION -- Blake Clark put in three goals as the Marion High School girls soccer team rebounded from its first loss to beat Carterville, 7-0, Thursday evening at Wildcat Stadium.
A night earlier, Marion lost to Missouri's reigning Class 2 state champion, Cape Notre Dame, 3-1, in a match that was tied with 12 minutes remaining.
But now the Lady Wildcats are 12-1-1 after drilling Carterville, which co-ops with Herrin.
Lauryn Kadela scored Marion's first goal off an assist from Nicole Szidik in the eighth minute, then Clark put in her first with a pass from Paige Newlin and scored again with Szidik assisting.
Szidik put in her own goal, with a pass from Clark, and Marissa Basi booted in a pair of goals around Clark's third with Haley Rice, Ana Cuartas and Gloria Wofford all marked for assists.
Maddie Goodley made six saves in goal for the Lady Wildcats. Ashton Hawk had eight saves for Carterville.
Marion's week includes a home match with Trenton-Wesclin on Tuesday and a road trip to Murphysboro on Thursday.
