CARTERVILLE -- Using a 17-2 run in the second quarter, the John A. Logan College women's basketball team surged past Southwestern Illinois College, 86-60, Saturday afternoon at Brewer Gymnasium.
The Lady Vols improved to 20-7 overall with their eighth straight win. They're now 12-4 in the Great Rivers Athletic Conference.
Shaniya Whitsell and Destiny Cozart both had 13 points to lead Logan. Farasia Hodge had 12 points and led the team with nine rebounds.
Sophia Thompson had 24 points for SWIC.
Logan is now assured a first-round home game in the upcoming District tournament, but first finishes the regular season Tuesday at Wabash Valley and at home Friday against Kaskaskia.
