PANA - The Du Quoin Indians turned the ball over six times Saturday, resulting in four of six touchdowns for the Pana Panthers.
That was enough to make the difference, as Du Quoin fell 39-26 in round one of the IHSA Class 3A State Series.
The Tribe traveled to Pana Saturday to take on the Panthers on their home field.
Still, the Indians had four touchdowns, including a 20-yard TD pass from Hank Stewart to Klayton Donoghue at the buzzer sounding halftime.
Also scoring for the Indians was Shamar Adams. In the first quarter, Adams got his team on the board with a long 74-yard touchdown run after taking a handoff from Stewart.
The Indians posted their other two touchdowns from Westly Milam (in the third quarter as a result of a five-yard rush) and Donovan Cole (in the fourth quarter as a result of a three-yard rush).
