SVWW Red Devils move to 7-0 with win over Hamilton County Foxes

MCLEANBORO - The Sesser-Valier/Waltonville/Woodlawn Red Devils got off to a fast start Friday night as Gavin Gunter returned the opening kickoff 75 yards to open a big first quarter for the Red Devils.
In all, the visitors scored five times in the first quarter and went on to post a 62-34 win at Hamilton County in Black Diamond Conference action.
The Red Devils remain unbeaten with the win at 7-0. The Foxes remain winless.
Peyton Rock scored with 7:48 in the first period as the Red Devils pushed the lead to 14-0. SVWW would add three more scores in the remaining four minutes of the quarter for a 34-0 lead.
The Foxes found some offense in the second quarter.
Landon Webb opened the second quarter with a 32-yard touchdown run.
The Hamco defense forced a three and out, and on the next series, Caleb Chapman scored the first of his three touchdowns for the Foxes as he capped the drive with a 32-yard scoring run. He would add a second touchdown with 31 seconds to play in the half, cutting the Red Devil lead to 42-22.
SVWW would force a punt on the first Hamco series starting the third quarter. The Red Devils' offense capitalized as Clayton Smith connected with Lukas Gunter for a 10-yard scoring pass.
Tanner Eubanks and Eli Gunter would find the end zone later in the second half.
The Red Devils will be home Friday to host Vienna-Goreville on "Senior Night."
