Lady Indians Short Game Metropolis 12-2; Go on to beat Vienna 14-7 to win round robin

This past weekend the Du Quoin Lady Indians  held their first three team round robin softball tournament of this season, hosting Marissa and Vienna.  In game one the Lady Indians would short game the Marissa Meteors 12-2 in five complete innings.
Lady Indians Coach Jason James started Mackenzie Jackson. Jackson faced the first three batters in the top of the first. Her defense helped her get them out in order one, two, and three. In the bottom of the first, Jackson hit a one out single. Then Morgan Bullar would walk and Jordyn Bullar would hit a single before the shortstop committed an error at first base, with  Jackson scoring the first Du Quoin run of the day.  Du Quoin led 1-0.
In the top half of the second Marissa would lead off with a walk, then a hit batsman, and tied the game at 1-1, on a ground out.  Jackson would get out of the second with still a tied game. Du Quoin's offense in bottom of second goes down in order.
   Top of the third inning Jackson would return the favor with the help of her defense with a pop out to her, a line out to first then a fly out to the Du Quoin left fielder. Bottom of the third after the lead off batter, Katie Smith flies out to right field. Du Quoin would score three runs on two hits and two Marissa errors in the inning. Du Quoin leads 4-1.
   Top of the fourth, Jackson sets down the next three Marissa batters after the lead off batter reaches on an error by the first baseman. The score is still 4-1. Bottom of the fourth saw  the first six Du Quoin batters get hits. Chloe Hill and Kat Robison both rapped singles. Then Katie Smith promptly hits a single driving in Hill. Mackenzie Jackson then helps herself out by hitting a two run double. Morgan Bullar then gets a single. Sister Jordyn Bullar then hits a one run triple driving in sister Morgan. Alaina Caldwell pops out at short. Afton Robinson draws a walk. Sadie Day would hit a two-run double driving in Jordyn Bullar and Afton Robinson. Du Quoin would pick up a total of seven runs and seven hits in the bottom half of inning four.       In the top of the fifth, Du Quoins Jackson would give up her only hit allowed of the game to the Marissa lead off batter, Campbell. Campbell would eventually score the second and final run for Marissa in the game. For the final out of the game, Jackson would get the final Marissa batter to ground out to the second baseman who threw to first.
  Jackson got her first victory of the season, she's 1-0. She pitched five complete innings, allowed one hit, struck out five, walked four, hit a batter. She allowed  two runs and one earned run.
   Jackson led all Du Quoin hitters and was  3-3, two double,, two   RBIs, and three runs scored. Jordyn Bullar was 3-4, with one triple, 2 RBIs, two runs scored. Arrah Barwick was 1-1 and scored one run. Sadie Day was 1-3 with a double, 2 RBIs, and two strikeouts.  Morgan Bullar was 1-3  with  one walk,  two runs scored. Katie Smith was 1-3,  swith one  RBI, one run scored and one strike out. Chloe Hill was 1-3 and one run scored. Kat Robison 1-3 and one run scored. Alaina Caldwell 1-4 with am RBI and one strikeout . Maci Mc Kinnies was 0-1. Emily Born was 0-1 with a strikeout. And Afton Robinson 0-2, one  walk and one run scored. Du Quoin goes to  2-0, Marissa is 0-3.
  Game two pitted the Marissa/Coulterville Meteors against the Vienna Lady Eagles. Vienna would go up 6-0 until the top of the seventh inning when Marissa would score their only run in the game. The Lady Eagles would win the game 6-1 over the Meteors. The Lady Eagles would be 1-0 in the tourney and the Meteors finished out 0-2 in the tournament.   The winner of game three would be the champions tournament.
    Game three pitted the Vienna Lady Eagles against Du Quoin. Du Quoin won it 14-7. Du Quoin's starting pitcher was Chloe Hill. Hill would allow one hit, no runs and strike out two of the four Lady Eagles batters she faced in the top of the first inning. In Du Quoin's half of the first inning they would score three runs with walks from Katie Smith and Morgan Bullar. Then Alaina Caldwell would get an RBI  single and she would eventually score as Smith and M. Bullar had done also.
    The top of the second inning was a short half inning. Hill would get out of the inning by striking out the first batter and then she would get two consecutive pop outs by the next two Lady Eagles batters to second baseman Sadie Day. The bottom half of the Du Quoin inning, saw the Lady Indians scoring eight  runs with Chloe Hill and Kat Robinson both starting out by drawing walks. Katie Smith would then strike out. Mackenzie Jackson would walk then Morgan Bullar picked up  the rare hit by a pitch RBI. Her sister Jordyn Bullar would then get on by an error by the Meteor third basemen. Alaina Caldwell hit an RBI single. Afton Robinson then hit a 2 RBI double. Sadie Day would rap a single. Then Chloe Hill would hit a sacrifice fly RBI to right field. Kat Robison would draw a walk and then Katie Smith flew out to right field  for the third out. After two complete innings, Du Quoin would lead 11-1. Vienna would score two runs in the top of the third, making the score 11-3 Du Quoin. In Du QuoinÕs bottom half of the third inning, they would send up only four  batters and score np runs. In the top of the fourth, Mackenzie Jackson would replace Chloe Hill on the mound. She would set the first three batters down with the first out, a fly out to right and then two consecutive strikeouts for outs 2 and 3. In Du QuoinÕs half of the fourth inning they would get one run, scored by Afton Robinson. Du Quoin led 12-3, after four.
    Vienna would pick up four more runs with a couple of Du Quoin errors, a couple of walks and a couple of singles. Du Quoin would now lead 12-7, going into their half of the fifth inning. Jordyn Bullar led off with a walk and she was brought home by a Chloe Hill rbi single. And that's all Du Quoin could manage. In the Vienna sixth inning, Jackson got all three Lady Eagles batters out on ground ball outs. In Du Quoin's half of their sixth inning. Katie Smith led off with a single and would eventually come home to score the 14th and final run in the game for the Lady Indians.
   In Vienna's seventh and final inning, Mackenzie Jackson would get the first two Vienna batters to ground out. Then the final Vienna batter hit a fly ball out to Du QuoinÕs left fielder, Emily Born. The final score was Du Quoin 14  Vienna 7. Du Quoin was 2-0 in winning their tourney and are 3-0 overall. Chloe Hill picks up the win she's 2-0. She pitched three complete innings, allowed 3 runs, two of which were earned, she scattered two  hits, she had five  strikeouts and two walks. Mackenzie Jackson pitched a complete four innings, allowed four runs, three of which were earned, she gave up two hits, three strikeouts, and one walk. Du Quoins offense: Chloe Hill was 3-4, 2 RBIs, and one run scored. Alaina Caldwell was 2-4, two RBIs, one run scored, two strikeouts. Katie Smith was 2-4, one walk two runs scored. Mackenzie Jackson was 2-4, 1 RBI, one walk, one run scored. Afton Robinson was 1-2, one double, 2 RBIs, one run scored. Arran Barwick was 1-2 with one run scored. Sadie Day was 1-3, one walk, one run scored.Kat Robison was 0-0, two walks,  one run scored. Maci Mc Kinnies was 0-1, two walks, one run scored. Morgan Bullar was 0-2, one walk, one hit by pitch, two  strikeouts, two  runs scored. Jordyn Bullar was 0-2, one  run scored. And Emily Born was 0-2, one strikeout.
