Former Benton standout Mia McLain wrapped up her freshman season at North Florida University in Jacksonville. McLain, who placed third in the cross country state meet her junior and senior year of high school and who is currently majoring in Psychology, sat down for a Question & Answer, provided by NFU.

Question: What's your dream career? 
Mia McLain: Speech Language Pathologist

Q: In 10 years, where do you want to be? 
MM: I'd like to be working as an SLP and traveling all over the world in my free time.

Q: Why do you play this sport? 
MM: Running has always been something I have loved to do, and it's a great way to stay in shape and meet some really amazing people!

Q: Do you have a favorite moment in your playing career? 
MM: My favorite moment was when I broke 5:00 in the 1600 during the spring of my senior year despite having the track season canceled.

Q: Who/what inspires you? 
MM: My dad. He has been my coach since I was in middle school and I wouldn't be here today without him.

Q: What is something about you that people wouldn't expect? 
MM: I have an identical twin sister.

Q: What's your proudest achievement? 
MM: Graduating as valedictorian from my high school.

Q: What's the most valuable piece of advice you have received? 
MM: To put your trust in the Lord instead of the things of the world.

Q: Pre-match meal? 
MM: A bagel and yogurt

Q: Pre-game music? 
MM: Anything I can dance to.

Q: Favorite hobby? 
MM:: Going to the beach, watching crime documentaries, and hanging out with friends.

Q: What does it mean to be a student-athlete? 
MM: To be a student athlete means that you represent your school not only on the track or cross country course, but also in the classroom, to the best of your abilities.
