Carole G. Heape, 80, of Du Quoin, passed away at 5:15 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 14, 2022 at her residence.
Carole had been a homemaker. She also worked as a cashier at Kroger for several years. Carole was of the nondenominational faith.
She was born Jan. 28, 1942 at Du Quoin, Illinois, the daughter of Louis and Irene (Griffin) Miller.
She married Phillip Heape on Nov. 24, 1980 at Du Quoin, and he survives.
She is survived by her husband of Du Quoin; four children, Carole (Mark) Longshore of Du Quoin, David (Toni) Harper of Du Quoin, Lou Ann (Roger) Cole of Bloomington, Illinois, and Kim Heape of Du Quoin; two stepchildren, Amelia Heape (husband Len Ciccotello) of Sherman Oaks, California and Scott Heape (wife Melissa Lockwood) of Bloomington; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Though not blood, many looked to Carole as a mom and grandma.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Per Carole's request, cremation rites were accorded. There will be no public visitation or service.
