Daniel Lloyd Wilson, 92, of Harrisburg, Illinois, passed away at his home on Sunday, Nov. 21, 2021.

Dan was born to Iley and Grace Wilson on Sept. 22, 1929 in St. Louis, Missouri. He was one of eight children with three brothers and four sisters, all of whom he cherished. They lived in the St. Louis area until 1947 when they moved to "The Farm" in Eddyville, Illinois.

Dan called "The Farm" 140 acres of paradise, and it always held a special place in his heart.

In 1951, Dan joined the Air Force. He was stationed in Germany, and then in London during the Korean Conflict. London was the place that would change his life forever. In March of 1953, Dan met the love of his life, Jean Brawbridge. They were married in November of the same year and went on to live a very full life together, deeply in love for 60 years. Between 1953 and 1969, they moved back and forth between Kidlington, England and Belleville, Illinois.

During his time in England, he had a few jobs that he really enjoyed, including as a financier at American Express, a bank manager at Limerick Finance, and the managing director at a service station and car dealership called Kidlington Car Collection.

When they moved to Harrisburg in 1969, Dan worked at Pool Pontiac for a few years. Then over the next 25 years, he worked in the coal mines or in coal mine construction for companies such as Mapco, Federal Landscaping and Curt Maddox Construction. He finished his career as an over-the-road truck driver. He made his last run for Wilson Cabinet Co. in the spring of 2018.

Anyone who spoke with Dan could tell you that his family and his faith were the most important things in his life. His wife of 60 years was his true love and he was so proud of his three kids, 10 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren. He was on the church council at Christ Lutheran for 25 years and tried to live his life following the Ten Commandments.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Wilson; his parents, Iley and Grace Wilson; and his siblings, Frieda Akers, Eugene Wilson, Earline Parker, Orville Wilson and Robert Wilson.

He is survived by two siblings, Georgia Palmer and Barbara Jones; 3 children, daughter Lynn Houston, daughter Cheryl (Roger) Angelly and son Richard Wilson (Dawanna Orndorff Wilson); 10 grandchildren, Danielle Houston-Smith, James Houston, Magan Sepulveda, John Sepulveda, Joe Sepulveda, Gabe (Carly) Angelly, Joe Angelly, Katie Berry, Haylie Wilson (Dakota) Manning and Dale Wilson; 17 great-grandchildren, Anfernee Houston, Orlando Clark, Kenyon Houston, Dyllan Houston, Brent Lawrence, Kayla Lawrence, Lilianna Lawrence, Brielle Sepulveda, Stefan Sepulveda, Liam Sepulveda, Kinsley Angelly, Kaydan Angelly, Will Angelly, Gabby Adams, Kain Adams, Kameron Adams and M.J. Berry; and many nieces and nephews.

The visitation will be held at Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills, Illinois from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 26. The funeral service will begin at 2 p.m.
