Jeffrey Allan Sampson, age 59, of Tamaroa, passed away at 11:04 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 5, 2021 at Pinckneyville Community Hospital.
Jeffrey was born in Michigan City, Indiana on Feb. 7, 1962, the son of Ellen Louise (Gordon) Manske and Garland Vincent. He worked as a carpenter and was a proud U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors include his daughter, Kami (Christopher) Skelton of Jacksonville, Arkansas; four grandchildren, Christopher Skelton Jr., Kyrah Skelton, Ka'miya Skelton and Carter Skelton; brothers Michael (Karen) Deeds of New Buffalo, Michigan, Gregory (Ruth) Runnels of Dowagiac, Michigan and Phillip Sampson of South Bend, Indiana; sister Beverly (James) Wunderlin of Michigan City, Indiana; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and special caregivers Leeanna McCurdy and Kathy Sherlock of Tamaroa.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Tina Beyer.
Cremation rites will be accorded through Maxton-Rosado Funeral Home in Du Quoin. Inurnment will take place at Pine Grove Cemetery in New Buffalo, Michigan at a later date.
In honor of Jeffrey's veteran status, a retired American flag will accompany him during cremation where the flag will serve one last patriotic duty for this heroic veteran one final time. The family will be presented a beautifully framed star swatch from this same flag.
