Charles Ray Dudley, 68, of Pinckneyville, passed away at 11:45 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 11, 2021 at his residence.

Charles was a heavy equipment operator in the construction field. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He had been a resident of Gervais, Oregon for 28 years.

He was born Feb. 3, 1953 at Mt. Vernon, Illinois, the son of Cyril and Ruth (McCowen) Dudley.

He married Vicki Flaherty on Feb. 1, 1998 at Salem, Oregon and she preceded him in death on Feb. 8, 2021.

Charles is survived by one sister, Linda Batson of Pinckneyville; one brother, Carl Harris of Tamaroa; nieces, Jennifer Wright and Gracie Harris; nephew, Ryan Batson; great-nieces and -nephews, Joshua Wright, Maddie Wright, Rylee Batson and Ryker Batson; aunts and uncles, William Harris, Naomi Harris, Doris Cockrum, Faye Campbell, Mary (Allen) Haley and David (Kathie) McCowen.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cyril Dudley and Ruth Harris; his wife; grandparents Stanley and Mabel McCowen; one uncle, Paul McCowen; stepfather, Captain Harris; stepgrandmother, Mary Harris McCowen, and one nephew, Noah Wright.

Per Charles' request, cremation rites were accorded. There will be no public visitation or funeral service.

Friends are invited to make memorials to Hospice of Southern Illinois, which will be accepted at the funeral home.
