Vernon Crabtree, 87, of Braidwood, IL, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2021, at Edward Hines, Jr. VA Hospital in Hines, IL.
Born November 18, 1933 in Scioto County, OH, to the late Phillip and Mallie (nee Green) Crabtree, he was a veteran of the United States Navy.
Surviving are five children, Stephen (Lisa) Crabtree of Braidwood, Mary Glynn (Bob) Hullett of Paris, IL, Gregory (Cheryl) Crabtree of Centerville, OH, Robin (Jeff) Wright of Georgetown, TN, and Tammy Crabtree of Palmaro, MO; eleven grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; five sisters, Edna Mae (Clarence) Shuff of South Webster, OH, Betty Cerventas of TX, Mary Lou Jackson of Columbus, OH, Norma Lee (Bob) Miller of South Webster, OH, and Phyllis (Ed) Boggs of Centralia, IL; and numerous nieces, nephews, and their families.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Ireta June (nee Maynard) Crabtree, whom he married October 3, 1952, in South Webster, OH; three grandsons and one granddaughter; twin brother, Vannen Crabtree; and brother Phillip Dale Crabtree.
Private interment will be at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL.
