Emma Jean Luthy, 85, of Du Quoin, passed away at 10 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 27, 2020 at the Fairview Rehabilitation and Healthcare in Du Quoin.

Jean was a homemaker and had been a cook at the Wheatley School for several years. She was a member of the St. John's United Church of Christ in Du Quoin. She loved camping and could be found camping at the Rend Lake Campgrounds. She enjoyed riding her bicycle around town.

Jean was born June 19, 1935 at Du Quoin, Illinois, the daughter of Bill and Sophia Hirsch.

Jean married Charles Henry Luthy on April 3, 1953 at the St. John's United Church of Christ in Du Quoin and he preceded her in death on May 27, 2005.

She is survived by a son, Kevin Luthy of Whitesville, West Virginia; two grandchildren, Jerrad (Randi) Luthy of Du Quoin and Jessica Luthy of Du Quoin; two great grandchildren, Owen Luthy and Rex Luthy; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; her twin sister, Erma June Hirsch; and two other sisters, Lola May Stoffel and Laura Lee Plager.

Graveside services will begin at noon on Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2020 at the Sunset Memorial Park in Du Quoin with Rev. Robert Morwell officiating.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday at the cemetery.

Friends are invited to make memorials to the Fairview Rehabilitation and Healthcare activity fund. They will be accepted at the funeral home.
