Margaret Sue Jones, 83, of Newburgh, Indiana, formerly of Marion, passed away at 7:30 AM on Friday, April 24, 2020, at home.
She was born on May 24, 1936, in Harrisburg, Illinois, to Ila and Freda (Dooley) Hinkle. She married Phillip Scott Herron who preceded her in death in 1997. She then married Leslie Guy "Dead Eye" Jones on April 16, 1987. He preceded her in death on September 26, 2015.
Margaret was of the Baptist faith. She spent many years working on the family farm and raising her family. She loved being with her family for holidays, birthdays or just spending time together whenever she could. After retirement she loved spending time with her many friends at the Marion Senior Citizens Center, jigsaw puzzles, doing artwork, and watching old movies.
She is survived by two sons, Mike Herron of Galatia and Scott (Heather) Herron of Decatur; one daughter, Laura (Mark) Buettner of Newburgh, IN; one sister, Ruth (Charles) Hermann of St. Genevieve, MO; four grandchildren, Cammi, Austin, Nathan and Peyton; eleven great grandchildren, Grace, Harrison, Abigalle, Maverick, Manning, Hayden, Clayton, Carsyn, Zaxyn, Zyrik and Zeygan; four step-daughters, Terry (Fred) Asbury of DuQuoin, Tracy (Greg) Hays Gibson of Carbondale, Julie (Bill) Gregory of Johnston City and Darlene Jones of Jackson Hole WY; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was also preceded in death by one sister, Mariella; two brothers, Ronnie and Gene and her parents.
She was the best mom, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend anyone could ask for and is greatly missed by all.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, July 31, 2020, at Crain Funeral Home Egyptian Chapel in Energy with Rev. Ralph Brandon officiating. Entombment will follow in Egyptian Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the hour of service. Groups of 50 people at a time will be allowed in to pay their respects.
Memorials may be made to the Marion Senior Citizens Center and will be accepted at the funeral home.
