Elaine Cleiman-Zemlyn, 87, of Chester, Illinois, passed away at 1:05 p.m. on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at Missouri Baptist Medical Center, St. Louis, Missouri.

She was born to the late Marcel H. and Alma A. (nee Hughes) Palmier on Jan. 17, 1933 in Red Bud. She married Dr. Milton Zemlyn on June 19, 1999 in Chester; he preceded her in death on Oct. 31, 2009.

Elaine was the executive secretary at Menard Correctional Center for 30 years.

She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Chester and the St. Louis Art Guild.

She is survived by her daughter, Lexia Cleiman of Chester; four grandchildren, C.C. Cleiman IV, JaDana E. Talano, Shawn R. Fleming and J. Maxwell Fleming; and five great-grandchildren, Randin, Colton, Andrew, Samantha and Charlotte.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands Charles "Buzz" Cleiman and Dr. Milton Zemlyn; two sons, C.C. Cleiman III and Jacques Cleiman; one half-brother, Cleve Cleary and one half-sister, Goldie Milligan.

The funeral Mass will begin at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 13 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Chester, with the Very Reverend Eugene H. Wojcik, V.F., officiating. Interment will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Chester.

Visitation will be held prior to the Mass, from 9 to 11 a.m. on Friday at St. Mary Catholic Church, Chester.
