Louie S. Radake, former Perry County resident

Louie S. Radake, age 89 of Posey, passed away at St. Louis University Hospital on Saturday, January 6, 2018.
Radake was born on January 4, 1929, in Perry County, Illinois, a son of Thomas and Cecilia (Waligorski) Radake.
He was a veteran of the United States Army and had received numerous commendations for his service during the Korean War. Louie was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish and hunt.
He enjoyed scrapping metal and working in his garage. He was well known in the area as someone who could and would fix anything.
Radake loved to eat, and fried chicken was his favorite meal.
Louie is survived by his children -- Michael Radake of Posey, Randy Radake, and Karen Dontigney and husband Paul, Sr. of Lebanon; his grandchildren -- Shane Radake and friend Mandy, Christopher Radake and wife Jamie, Paul Dontigney, Jr. and wife Amanda, Jacob Radake and friend Jill, and Misty Radake and friend Michael; his great grandchildren -- Tyler Schaeffer, Morgan Dontigney, Megan Radake, Bailey Radake, Gage Dontigney, Draven Frieman, and Lydia Frieman; a brother -- Rich Radake of Scheller; and two sisters -- Agnes George of Tamaroa and Mary Ann Schroeder of Richview.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings -- Regina Vitale, Adam Radake, Clarence Radake, Evelyn Perjak, and Albert Radake.
A funeral mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday, January 11, 2018, at St. Mary's Church in Carlyle with Fr. George Mauck officiating.
Interment will follow at Posey Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Zieren Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 10, 2018, from 4:00 -- 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 8:00 -- 9:30 a.m.
Expressions of sympathy in memory of Radake are suggested to his great-grandchildren's education and will be received at Zieren Funeral Home.
