Danny R. Winkleman of Golconda

GOLCONDA -- Danny R. Winkleman, 80, passed away peacefully at 9:25 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 10, 2017, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born Sept. 13, 1937, in Harrisburg, the son of Raymond and Flossie Winkleman. He married the former Nancy Vaughn on Dec. 30, 1983, and she survives.

Danny was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, retired coal miner/boss for Peabody Coal Company and member of Raleigh Masonic Lodge 128.

He also attended Herod Springs Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy Winkleman of rural Golconda; daughter, Cindy (Bobby) Bruce of Mount Vernon; daughter, Debbie (Chris) Field of Carrier Mills; son, Denny (Nicole) Winkleman of Carbondale; son, Todd (Tammy) Winkleman of Mount Vernon; son, Curtis (Gina) McClusky of Galatia; daughter, Wendy McClusky of Golconda; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Karen (Darrell) Burd of Florida, Judy (Norman) Swick of Georgia, Sally (Gordon) Thompson of Kentucky and Lissa (David) Hayes of Florida; and sister-in-law, June Winkleman of Kentucky.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Darold Winkleman; and sister Betty and her husband Jim O'Heron.

Funeral services will be private with the Rev. Ownly Williams officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Spring Valley Cemetery in rural Harrisburg.

In lieu of flowers, the preferred choice or remembrance would be memorials to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
