HARRISBURG -- On July 15, the Fowler Bonan Foundation hosted its 19th annual Clothes for SI Kids Jr. Golf Day in Harrisburg.

The annual fundraising event seeks to bring awareness to the Foundation and help support their ongoing mission of helping families and children in need throughout Southern Illinois.

"We had an amazing turnout for the annual golf day, bringing together dozens of children throughout the region while supporting the foundation's mission of making a difference in southern Illinois," Fowler Bonan Foundation Chairman Dale Fowler said. "It was truly a blessing, and I can't express how grateful we are to everyone who participated, donated and sponsored to make this event possible."

Almost 70 children participated in the annual fundraising event, benefiting the southern Illinois-based charity. While the event was free to the public, all proceeds, including sponsorships and donations, will go toward supporting the Foundation's ongoing efforts to provide services and resources to underprivileged children and struggling families in Southern Illinois.

"While we have been extremely fortunate over the past year due to the outpouring of continued support from our generous donors, this charity event has always been one of the biggest ways in which we fund our ongoing Foundation programs," Fowler said. "Despite the fact that it has been a hard year for so many throughout the state, I was once again blown away by the generosity and kindness shown by donors and sponsors."

Currently, the foundation operates both the Clothes for SI Kids program and Heaven's Kitchen initiative. The Clothes for SI Kids program was the original motivation behind creating the golf outing. The mission of the SI Kids program is to provide new clothing and shoes to low-income children in southern Illinois. The foundation also operates the Heaven's Kitchen initiative which is an all-volunteer effort which serves a free meal to all those in need in Marion and Harrisburg.
