Saline County 4-H members exhibited some outstanding projects at the 4-H Home & Family Show held on Thursday, July 8, at the Harrisburg Town & County Lions Club.
Exhibitors excelled with their Foods, STEAM Clothing, Shopping in Style, Interior Design, Pies, Food Preservation and Food Decorating projects which they presented to the judges. And all the projects were on display for the public to enjoy.
State Fair ribbons for Foods projects were awarded to Landon Porter (4-H Cooking 101), Alice Miller (4-H Cooking 101), Caroline Tanner (4-H Cooking 201), Rachel Lands (4-H Cooking 201, Food Preservation -- Jams, and Visual Arts -- Food Decorating, Beginning), Briley Karnes (Food Preservation -- Pickles), and Madison Sisney (Food Science 2)
State Fair Alternate ribbons were awarded to Andrew Grizzell (4-H Cooking 101), Laney Mondino (4-H Cooking 101), Adriana Vinyard (4-H Cooking 101), Briley Karnes (4-H Cooking 201), McKenna Sisney (Food Science 1 and Visual Arts -- Food Decorating, Beginning) and Rachel Lands (Food Science 2). David Heath received a County Champion ribbon for Pies.
In the Design and Clothing Decisions project areas, Courtney Boulds received a State Fair ribbon for Design Decisions -- Advanced, Rachel Lands received a State Fair Ribbon for Design Decisions -- Beginning, and Alice Miller earned a State Fair ribbon for Shopping in Style -- Beginning.
State Fair ribbon winners for Clothing & Textiles projects were Rachel Lands (STEAM Clothing 3), Caroline Tanner (STEAM Clothing 2) and Alice Miller (STEAM Clothing 1 -- Sewn Clothing). A State Fair Alternate ribbon was awarded to Alice Miller for STEAM Clothing 1 -- Sewn non-Clothing.
Fashion Revue, which followed the regular judging, is a 4-H project where members write their own narrative that is read while they model a sewn or purchased garment. Alice Miller received the Fashion Revue County Champion ribbon.
Sewing Top of Show was awarded to Rachel Lands and Sewing Best Construction was awarded to Caroline Tanner.
The 4-H staff at University of Illinois Extension and Saline County 4-H would like to thank all those who volunteered their time to serve as judges or assistant judges for this show.
