EQUALITY -- Equality's Firecracker Festival once again delighted those in attendance, with a full slate of afternoon activities prior to the fireworks show.

The Reunion Band put on a concert beginning around 5 p.m., and performed a Jimi Hendrix-style electric guitar rendition of The Star-Spangled Banner right before fireworks.

A cake walk also was held, along with a raffle drawing for prizes. A wide range of food was available, as well as glow toys for children.

The event, provided by the village of Equality, the Equality Fire Department and Legence Bank, also featured free American flags for children to hold during the national anthem.

Finally, the fireworks show, directed by Jeramie Sandor, was a hit with the crowd. The elaborate and elegant display drew frequent applause and shouts of enthusiasm from those gathered at the park.
