MARION -- Members of the Marion Garden Club joined Mayor Mike Absher at the Marion City Hall last week for the signing of a proclamation declaring June 6-12 as "Garden Week" in Marion.

This time corresponds with National Garden Week, founded by National Garden Clubs with which the club is affiliated. Garden week is the first full week of June and is a time to promote the importance of gardening and encourage pride in the community. During the week, the club will dedicate a pollinator garden they planted at the Marion Carnegie Library and make financial donations to local organizations. On June 12, they will host a garden tour for the public of six members yards. For information call (618) 889-2219 or visit the club website at mariongardenclubofillinois.weebly.com.
