Chester High School held a spring pep rally on April 23 to recognize senior athletes, pep band members, dance team members and cheerleaders.

Kristin Petrowske, co-sponsor of the Student Council, welcomed the seniors and juniors in attendance.

"We want to extend our appreciation for your dedication and involvement in CHS extracurricular activities and athletics over the past four years of your high school careers," she said. "You have endured more change, adversity, and challenges than most seniors throughout school history."

She then announced that the Chester High School Music Program finished as state runner-up in the 2021 IHSA Class C Music Sweepstakes Competition. Chester's point total also ranked them as 10th overall in Illinois regardless of size of school.

Following the pep assembly was the introduction of the Spring Formal King and Queen Court and the announcement and coronation of the 2021 King and Queen and runners-up prince and princess.

Junior Court members included Juniors Hannah Blechle and Cooper Eggemeyer, and Alex Hennrich and Luke Miller. Senior court members were Juliette Abernathy and Gage Garniss; Peyton Clendenin and Nate Heffernan; and Amelia Shemonic and Ryan Whitley.

Retiring CHS 2019 Homecoming King and Queen were Class of 2020 class members Chris Schwier and Cierra Creason. They had the honor of crowning the new CHS 2021 Spring Formal Royalty.

To end the event, all CHS junior and senior class members were joined by the CHS teachers and staff in standing and singing another of the school's most popular fight songs, "Beer, Beer for Ole Chester High."
