Several local high school students participated in Rend Lake College's annual welding contest, with five scoring high enough to receive prizes.

Academic awards were given to the top students to attend the RLC welding program in the fall 2021 semester. In addition to the academic awards, winners receive gloves, and the first place finisher -- Jonathan Reese of Christopher -- received a welding helmet.

Winners are pictured with RLC welding instructor Mikey Meinert and welding professor Pete Wilce.
