Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin has expanded its network of expert physicians as it welcomes two additional gastroenterologists from Saint Louis University.

Drs. Roshani Desai and Hany Elbeshbeshy will begin seeing patients in the hospital's specialty clinic in February.

Dr. Desai is board certified in gastroenterology and internal medicine. She is a highly-trained gastroenterologist and hematologist who is passionate about treating patients with all kinds of liver diseases and caring for patients pre- and post-liver transplant.

Dr. Elbeshbeshy is board certified in internal medicine. He specializes in liver transplant services and treatment of advanced liver disease, cirrhosis and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease.

Drs. Desai and Elbeshbeshy will join gastroenterologists Dr. Alex Befeler, Dr. Christine Hachem and Dr. Jason Taylor who also see patients at Marshall Browning Hospital. All five will have surgical privileges at Marshall Browning Hospital and will perform diagnostic procedures such as colonoscopies, endoscopies and liver biopsies.

"We are pleased to add two additional gastroenterologists from Saint Louis University to our specialty clinic schedule," said Marshall Browning CEO Dan Eaves. "We will now have five experts in the field of gastroenterology coming to Du Quoin so that our patients do not have to travel to St. Louis."

Both Dr. Desai and Dr. Elbeshbeshy are assistant professors of internal medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Saint Louis University School of Medicine. Dr. Desai is also associate program director for Internal Medicine at SSM Health St. Louis University Hospital.

Dr. Desai received her bachelor's and medical degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. She then completed her internship and residency at Saint Louis University School of Medicine and joined the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology to complete her gastroenterology fellowship.

Dr. Elbeshbeshy earned his medical degree from Cairo (Egypt) University and completed his residency at Air Force General Hospital, also in Cairo. He completed a fellowship at the University of Medicine of New Jersey.

Gastroenterologists treat disorders of the digestive system and disorders such as ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, abdominal pain, GERD, diverticulosis, diarrhea, lactose intolerance, constipation, peptic ulcers, celiac disease, motility disorders, and all forms of liver diseases including hepatitis.
