MARION -- Victoria Shore, Marion High School Senior and Juliette Ambassador of Girl Scouts of Southern Illinois, is hosting the Lead Like a GIRL Summit, Sept. 5-7, to complete her Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest award a Girl Scout can achieve.
This event is for High School girls and will take place at Pepsi MidAmerica in Marion. Parents are responsible for transportation to and from the events.
Girls in attendance will have the opportunity to meet over a dozen women from a vast array of professions and hear them speak about their jobs. They'll also view the Empowerment Project Documentary, go Goofy Golfing and get to take part in other fun activities throughout the weekend.
Some of the speakers featured at this summit include Evie Allen of WSIL TV 3, Judge Carey Gill, La Galeria owner Laura Chairez, Isabella Hanson of KFVS-12, CEO of Girl Scouts of Southern Illinois Loretta Graham, medical professionals from Heartland Regional Medical Center, hair tips from stylist Rene Shelton, and skin care tips from Younique presenter Linda Byassee.
The girls will also get a tour of Pepsi midAmerica and a session from the women of Pepsi. They will have an opportunity to learn about each woman's line of work and ask questions of the speakers, learning more about how they can build a brighter future for themselves and become a GIRL (Go-Getter, Risk Taker, Innovator and Leader).
Masks will be required of all attendees and social distancing guidelines will be enforced.

Registration for this daytime event is $30 and includes all meals, a T-shirt and all activities. A virtual event will be offered for Girl Scouts that fulfill requirements for Senior and Ambassador Journeys.
Deadline for registration is Saturday. Aug. 15. The event is sponsored by Heartland Regional Medical center, Pepsi MidAmerica, HireLevel and Younique by Lash Lady Linda.
