ELDORADO -- As COVID-19 cases are increasing in Saline and surrounding counties, Ferrell Hospital announced Wednesday it was restricting all visitors to the hospital and clinics.

Though Saline County, Gallatin County and White County all had relatively few cases of COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic, in recent days the number of people testing positive for COVID-19 has increased.

On Wednesday, for example, Egyptian Health Department reported 10 new cases in the three counties. Six of those 10 were from White County, while three were in Saline and one was in Gallatin.

As of early Thursday afternoon, 53 people in EHD's three-county area have tested positive for COVID-19. Twenty have been in Saline County, with 11 recovered. Nine have been in Gallatin with four recovered and 24 have been in White County, with eight recovered.

On Monday, Hamilton County Health Department announced its eighth COVID-19 case.

Effective immediately, no visitors are allowed in Ferrell Hospital and its clinics, according to a statement issued by the hospital.

Besides the hospital, Ferrell operates a clinic in Eldorado, plus clinics in White and Hamilton counties.

Exceptions will be made for one adult accompanying a pediatric patient and for end-of-life situations.

Patients with a medical emergency should go to the Emergency Department entrance.

Ferrell Hospital and affiliated clinics have implemented patient screening protocols prior to entering the facility and/or clinics. At Ferrell Hospital and Ferrell Hospital Family Practice, patients should go to the main entrance located on Benton Street if arriving between the hours of 7 a.m.-7 p.m., Monday through Friday; otherwise, they should go to the emergency entrance.
