MARION -- A Marion man is dead following a two-vehicle crash in rural Williamson County last Thursday.
According to a preliminary report from Illinois State Police, 73-year-old Gerald Morris of Marion was traveling north on Paulton Road when he failed to stop before crossing Illinois Route 13.
Morris' Dodge Durango struck the driver's door of a Freightliner box truck traveling west on Route 13 driven by 44-year-old Tremayne Tarpley of Glendale, Arizona.
Tarpley's truck rolled over onto its side.
He was not injured, the report says. Morris was pronounced deceased on the scene.
The roadway was closed for approximately three hours following the 5:19 p.m. crash.
The incident remains under investigation.
