Police search for suspect in Marion shooting

MARION -- Marion police are searching for a Mt. Vernon man in connection with a weekend shooting.

Police were called to the 200 block of Michelle Drive at around 10 p.m. on June 6 for reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, the found a man with a gunshot wound to the head.

That man was transported to a local hospital and later airlifted to a trauma center.

Investigators identified two suspects, Demetrius J. "Jessie" Hernandez, 27, of Mt. Vernon, and Lord Dario Travis, 20, of Marion.

Travis was taken into custody on Monday and charged with attempted murder, armed robbery, and aggravated battery with a firearm.

Hernandez has not been located. Police believe he is possibly in either Mt. Vernon or the Chicago area.

He is considered armed and dangerous and warn the public to not approach him.
