Sparta man charged with thefts; more charges may be coming

A 41-year-old Sparta man has been charged with two thefts in Randolph County, and more charges could be pending, Randolph County Sheriff Shannon Wolff announced on Tuesday.

Jesse Sellers has been charged with unlawful possession of stolen property, in connection with the theft of a 2010 Polaris Razor from Simpson Street in Modoc on Oct. 17 and a 2017 Ferris mower taken from a home on Palestine Road, north of Chester, between Oct. 24 and Oct. 28, according to a sheriff's office news release.

Both items have been recovered, along with a number of lawn care tools, equipment and a trailer connected to the theft of the Ferris mower.

The release says that investigators have also connected Sellers to additional thefts in the area and it is believed Sellers is responsible for more thefts throughout Randolph County and beyond. Authorities say additional arrests are also possible.
