SALINE COUNTY -- Oct. 6 -- 12, 2019 is recognized across this country as National 4-H Week. Clubs, counties and state 4-H organizations are busy at this time with events such as National Youth Science Day experiments, putting up window displays, and promoting 4-H and what members can gain from joining.

In Saline County, our clubs are promoting 4-H with our Window Display Contest and our Poster Contest and with the Public Service Announcements airing this week on WEBQ Radio. We held our NYSD Experiment, Code Your World, on Oct. 2, and our clubs have met with the mayors of our cities to witness the National 4-H Week proclamation signings.

We would love to have you join our 4-H family. Call Nancy at University of Illinois Extension at 618-252-8391 for more information.

• Saline County 4-H Achievement Night

Saline County 4-H will hold our annual Achievement Night program beginning at 6 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 21, 2019. Achievement Night will be held in the cafeteria of the Harrisburg Middle School.

We will start with awards and a fun magic show by local magician Jack Martin.

Following the awards, stay to join us for a potluck dessert bar. Bring your favorite dessert to share. Drinks, plates, napkins and table service will be provided.

We look forward to seeing all 4-H members, volunteers, and families at Harrisburg Middle School to receive awards and recognize the accomplishments of our youth.

All 4-H Federation officers should arrive by 4 p.m. to help decorate and to get prepared to speak and hand out awards.
