PINCKNEYVILLE -- The Pinckneyville Panthers softball team added another victory to its total Tuesday, defeating Anna-Jonesboro, 15-3, in a game shortened to ive innings due to the 10-run rule.

The Panthers have improved to 12-6 overall and stand 7-1 in the Mississippi Division of the River to River Conference.

Hallie Waggoner picked up the win in the circle. Morgan Wendling was the losing hurler. PCHS scored two runs in the first inning and then bombarded the Wildcats with six runs in the second frame and five more in the third. They added two more for good measure in the fourth.

Offensively, Kiya Hagene went 3-4 with an RBI. Taylor Witges was 3-3 with a double and three RBIs. Lauren Jackson finished 2-3 with a double and two RBIs. Megan Engelhardt was 2-2 with a double and two RBIs and Lynlee Lindner added one hit and drove in one.

"I thought we were a little flat at the beginning of the game today, coming off an important win yesterday (over Du Quoin). We surrendered a couple of unearned runs to start the game, and I think that woke us up a bit," said Panthers head coach Alan Engelhardt. "We took several good at-bats again today, and once again, all nine of our batters reached base. I like the progress our offense is beginning to make.
