DU QUOIN -- About 60 crafters and vendors packed Du Quoin's Sacred Heart gymnasium on Saturday for the seventh annual Christmas Craft and Vendor Event.

A steady flow of shoppers milled through the event that featured a variety of items from baked goods to lighting to several kinds of handcrafted items.

"I started out with 32 dozen cupcakes," said Haleigh Collins of Haleigh-Claire's Cupcakery of Harrisburg. "This is all I have left," she said, pointing to less than a dozen remaining about an hour before the event ended.

Nathan Strunk was just as busy. The owner of Nathan's Pork Rinds from Johnston City had sold all but five bags of his homemade pork rinds with two hours left.

Patty Robertson of It's Sew Patty in Pinckneyville said her selection was dwindling. She had also taken orders for several items.

"it's been a good day," she said.

The event is a fundraiser for Sacred Heart.
