HARRISBURG -- Caped crusaders and diabolical villains will visit Harrisburg Saturday, but it's not the plot of a summer blockbuster.

The ninth annual Burg Comics Con will return to Harrisburg from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday at the Bonan Center, 540 N. Commercial St.

While the main emphasis is, of course, on comic books, the superhero celebration will feature a variety of attractions for both die-hard comics fans and casual observers.

Each year, the comic book expo has artists within the comic book industry on hand to meet with fans.

This year, Don Kramer, an artist who has worked both for DC Comics and Marvel, will be featured at the comics con. Other featured guests include illustrator, character designer and concept artist Joe Dodd of Springfield, freelance illustrator Justin Holman and a host of other individuals in the business.

While the event is free and open to the public, comics con organizer Scott Reed of Burg Comics asks that those attending bring a nonperishable food donation. Those food donations will be distributed to the 4-C's food pantry in Harrisburg.

There also will be a costume contest for youngsters and adults, several interactive panels with those industry members in attendance and a number of games organized by Terry Glassman and Greyhawke Gaming.

"I think there's something every fan will find interesting," Reed said.

In addition, a limited number of VIP passes are available for $20. A VIP pass has some extra comics and gaming related merchandise, plus allows early 9 a.m. access to the con.
