The following incidents were obtained from the Benton Police Department. Note that arrests, charges and citations are allegations only, not findings of guilt.
April 19
• Police conducted a traffic stop at about 2:45 a.m. at the intersection of North McLeansboro Street and Bailey Lane. During the stop, Police K9 "Ranger" alerted to the odor of illegal narcotics in the vehicle. Police arrested the driver, 52-year-old Brian J. Brewster of Mt. Vernon, on a charge of unlawful possession of methamphetamine. Brewster was transported to the Franklin County Jail for further processing.
• Police were dispatched at about 8:30 a.m. to the 300 block of West Church Street in reference to a verbal dispute. Upon investigating, police arrested Kevin C. Fisher, 33, of Carbondale on a charge of criminal trespass. Fisher was transported to the Franklin County Jail for further processing.
• Police at about 10 p.m. arrested Amanda D. Worley, 39, of Benton on charges of unlawful possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
