Chester firefighters search capsized boats

The Chester police and fire departments were called to the Chester riverfront at 4:24 p.m. on Thursday on the report of two capsized boats.
The vessels appeared to be a makeshift sailboat and a smaller powerboat, both filled with water and up against the bank. A submerged dinghy attached to the rear of the sailboat, which was listing to the port side, had the name "Charivari," which is a French term for "rough music."
According to firefighters on scene, the vessels had been at the riverfront for at least a week and upon request of the U.S. Coast Guard, searched them both.
No one was on board. According to police scanner traffic, the registration of one of the vessels came back expired, while the other was not on file.
"The registered owner appears to be a former owner, so we're still researching who might be in possession of it last," said Chester Police Chief Ryan Coffey.
Firefighters were on scene for about an hour. U.S. Coast Guard Sector Ohio Valley is investigating the report.
