Three Randolph County softball players were recently named All-South by the Southern Illinois Coaches Association.
Steeleville's Sydney Hood and Lexi Middendorf, and Chester's Miah Mitchell were all among those honored by the SICA. All three players are juniors and could return in 2018.
Hood led the Lady Warriors with a .530 batting average to go along with six home runs and 22 RBIs. She was also 22-4 in the circle with a 1.55 ERA and 149 strikeouts in 157 innings pitched.
Middendorf, one of the team's power hitters, finished the 2017 season with a .464 batting average, eight home runs and 35 RBIs.
Steeleville finished 23-4 last season, falling to Elverado, 3-1, in the semifinals of its own Class 1A regional.
Mitchell was one of three juniors for Chester, which finished last season 12-11 and lost to eventual state fourth-place finisher Pinckneyville, 5-0, in the semifinals of the Class 2A Anna-Jonesboro Regional.
