The Chester school district will be back in the market for another superintendent as Superintendent Rick Goodman has turned in his letter of resignation.
District 139 Board of Education President Mitch Hammel read Goodman's letter at the end of a special board meeting on Tuesday at Chester Grade School.
"Please accept this letter as my formal notice of resignation as superintendent of Chester (Community Unit School District) 139 effective at the end of the day June 30, 2017," Hammel said. "I sincerely appreciate the opportunity that you have given me the past eighteen months to serve as your superintendent.
"I would also like to sincerely thank the administration, teachers and support staff for supporting me during my time here at Chester CUSD 139."
