Crappie Masters qualifier held

Two Missouri anglers won the Bass Pro Shops Crappie Masters national qualifying tournament this past weekend. David Cox (left) of Warsaw and Steve Hockett of Sedalia caught 10.33 pounds of crappie with their seven-fish limit Saturday to win the $3,800 first-place prize. The two fished the Big Muddy arm in the north end of Rend Lake using the spider rig method. The light-wind conditions were perfect as the fish were scattered in five to seven feet of water in the downed timber area.
