The Indians were unable to extend its win streak to four games Friday night as they wrapped up the regular season against conference foe Nashville.
The Hornets forced turnovers early and often, fueled by center Brogan Kemp who finished with a game-high 18 points, pulling away for a 50-39 victory.
Prior to the start of the game, Du Quoin honored its seniors as part of senior night.
It was senior forward Braden Heape who kept the Indians close to open up the game.
After each team turned the ball over on its first possession, Heape got Du Quoin on the board with basket inside the paint to take a 2-0 lead.
The Hornets answered with a mid-range jumper, but Indian senior Blaine Bradley answered with a layup to give the Indians the lead back once again.
Heape extended the lead shortly after Nashville tied the game once again, knocking down a three-pointer from the wing to give Du Quoin a 7-4 lead midway through the first.
Nashville responded, closing out the quarter on a 6-0 run, scoring all three baskets in transition off of Du Quoin turnovers.
The Hornets continued to put the pressure on defensively, opening up the second with a pair of steals and transition baskets, taking a 14-7 lead a minute into the quarter.
They added on to its lead with a putback and pair of free-throws shortly after to take a 18-9 lead.
Eliot Gross cut into the Nashville lead, knocking down a three from the wing, but the Hornets followed up with five unanswered to take a 23-12 lead with two minutes to play in the half.
Ashton Smith knocked down a baseline three to cut the lead back to single digits, but the Hornets answered with a three of their own to take a 26-15 lead into halftime.
Smith opened the third with a three-pointer and followed up with an assist to Caleb Vogel in transition to cut the deficit back down to single digits, 29-20, but Du Quoin couldn't pull within any closer.
Kemp reeled off five straight points to help the Hornets take comfortable 34-20 lead late in the third.
The Hornets added on with a pair of layups to close out the quarter leading 38-23.
Du Quoin was unable to make any significant comeback attempt in the fourth, as Nashville was able to coast to a win, 50-39.
Du Quoin (14-14) will look to turn things around when they open up postseason action Wednesday night against the winner of Chester and Trico. The game is scheduled to tip off at 7 p.m.
