There were no throngs of families counting down to the tree lighting in downtown Du Quoin or carols being sung, but the city is taking on a holiday glow nonetheless. In Pinckneyville, the Perry County courthouse is ready for the season and the city's Christmas tree -- in only its second year -- stands pretty against the autumnal night sky.
