A special preview showing of a quilt commemorating the 2017 solar eclipse will be during Peach Festival at St. James Church in Marion on Friday, July 28.

The quilt was created by fabric artist Joyce Hesketh of Carbondale.

Also included in the preview will be a commemorative wall-hanging that Hesketh is finishing just in time for the Peach Festival.

Both works will then travel to St. Andrew's Church in Carbondale, where they will be on display throughout the month of August. Two dozen other quilts designed by Hesketh also will be exhibited.

The large eclipse quilt will be raffled off on Aug. 27.

The Peach Festival will be held 3 to 8 p.m. in the fellowship hall of St. James Church, 301 E. Thorn St., in Marion.

Admission to the preview is free. Peach-themed refreshments can be purchased, including hot dogs with peach salsa and peach cobbler, along with a unique chilled peach soup that was the hit of last year's festival.
