Akin Girl Scouts hold 'cookie shop' in Benton

Todd Hintz and his son, Jaymeson, stopped by Benton's Rural King with a shopping list.
"I need one of those and one of those," he told Olivia Barclay.
Barclay filled the order with a smile and handed Hintz his change.
The father and son left with a smile -- and their two boxes of Girl Scout cookies.
The annual cookie sale has been the major fundraiser for local Girl Scout units since 1917. Troops across America now sell about 200 million boxes each year.
In recent years, marketing of the popular cookies has moved beyond the traditional door-to-door order to internet sales and "cookies shops" set up at local businesses.
The four members of Akin Troop 8043 that were manning this past weekend's cookie shop were having no trouble pushing their product.
"They (the Troop) have already sold very 1,000 boxes," said Heather Barclay, who shares Troop leader responsibility with Alicia Lindhorst.
Rural King manager Dana Combs said her store loves supporting local causes like the annual cookies sale.
"We let them set up every year," she said. "Our customers like it, and they enjoy the kids."
Olivia was joined by fellow Troop members Jayma Lindhorst, Allie Dial and Riley King. The girls were working to earn badges, but also hoping to reach a troop goal of 1,500 sales to earn shirts.
They were only a short a few hundred boxes this weekend, and
cookie shop sales will continue for a few more weeks. Customers looking to purchase can visit girlscouts.org for locations.
